A Structured and Predictable Approach

The Three-Step Process

Step One: Identifying Important Decisions

Step One: Identifying Important Decisions

At Make Decisions Together, we use a simple three-step process to help families make important decisions together. We know that starting a facilitated process for decision-making or conflict resolution can feel daunting-especially when you’re unsure how long it will take or how much it will cost. That’s why our three-step process is designed to give you clarity, structure, and predictability from the very beginning.

With our approach, you’ll know exactly what to expect: the process is broken down into clear sessions with a set number of steps, so there are no endless meetings or surprise costs. This helps your family feel more comfortable and confident as you work through important decisions together.

Step One: Identifying Important Decisions

Step One: Identifying Important Decisions

The first step is to figure out what decisions need to be made. Every family faces different challenges, and sometimes it’s hard to agree on what’s most important. In your first two-hour session, we’ll help your family talk through your situation and clearly identify and prioritize the decisions that matter most. Our facilitator makes sure everyone’s voice is heard and helps the group focus on what really needs attention.

Step Two: Considerations and Perspectives

Step Two: Considerations and Perspectives

Once you know what needs to be decided, it’s time to understand how everyone feels. In this step, we create a supportive space where each family member can share their thoughts, worries, hopes, and what information they need. Sometimes, talking about big decisions brings up old disagreements or strong emotions. That’s normal-and our facilitator is there to guide the conversation, help everyone feel heard, and keep things respectful. If your family needs more time to work through tough issues, you can add extra Step Two sessions before moving forward.

Step Three: Decision Making and Planning

Step Two: Considerations and Perspectives

With everyone’s ideas and concerns on the table, your family is ready to make decisions together. In this step, we help you move through a clear, step-by-step process to agree on a plan that fits your family’s values and needs. Our facilitator keeps things organized, makes sure everyone stays involved, and helps the group reach decisions with confidence.

Step Three: Decision Making and Planning

Throughout the Process

Throughout the process, our facilitator:

  • Makes sure everyone gets a chance to speak
  • Helps manage disagreements and keep conversations on track
  • Guides your family from confusion to clarity and action

By working through these three steps, families can turn difficult decisions into opportunities for understanding, connection, and teamwork.
